Abstract:
Composite reinforcements are increasingly more replacing steel reinforcements in contemporary architecture and building construction. The reasons are definitely in better mechanical and physical properties, and corrosion resistance of composite reinforcements. This is particularly reflected in the application of the reinforcements in building constructions intended for work in aggressive environments, such as underwater constructions, bridges, marine docks and the like, as well as lightweight building construction. The paper provides an overview of properties and applications of composite reinforcements reinforced with glass and polymer fibers.
