Abstract:
This paper presents free vibration analysisof stiffened thin-walled structures. Variation of well-established finite strip method, namely compound strip method, is used for the analysis. This method is semi-analytical procedure which allows modelling of longitudinal and transverse stiffeners within the flat shell finite strip. Influence of stiffeners is introduced through their interface lines via appropriately calculated rigidity and inertial properties. Main advantage of this method is its efficient modelling of transverse stiffener within the harmonic finite strip method. Numeric analysis is carried out with one illustrative example given here. The results obtained are in excellent agreement with the ones from the finite element method. For prismatic structures, presented procedure promises better insight into analysed problems than other purely numerical methods.
